First post! Hello! I have loved the Fairlady since I was in junior high, and I have wanted one since I could drive. I frequently check craigslist etc. looking for a deal on one and for years nothing really caught my eye until the other day. A bone stock 1992 300ZX TT for sale for $8900. 89k original miles(or so the dealer says, but the car looks clean). Two owners via clean CARFAX. Clean title. Only downside is it is automatic. So my question is, basically, does this price seem fair? Now I've never driven a 300zx before I test drove it, and when starting and idling it cold with no one in the passenger seat there is a decent wobble (I thought engine mount or maybe worse--misfire?) but when I drove it the wobble all but disappeared, it handled well, braked well, accelerated well, sounded good... Another thing that concerned me was the boost gauge worked, but it sat at -14 during most normal driving and when around 4-6k RPM it jumped to 0. Does this mean it's not making positive boost? Or is the gauge not a reliable indicator? It felt like it was pulling hard with no problems, but I have yet to take it on the highway and have never seen a "normal" Z's boost gauge working. All electrics seemed to work (doors, windows, radio, lights...). I have arranged with the dealer to take it to a mechanic (I am thinking of arranging something at a Nissan dealer) to look it over before I buy. Thoughts? Any help is much appreciated.
